How do I change my vehicle details?

You can change the vehicle details on your policy through your Aviva Motor account. Here’s how:

  1. Log in to MyAviva.
  2. Select your Aviva Motor policy, then choose Details.
  3. Scroll down to the My policies section.
  4. Find the policy you wish to update and choose Change policy.
  5. Select Change vehicle details and usage.
  6. Enter the date you want the change to take place. Please note: on the day you change your vehicle, we’ll cover your existing vehicle until you take ownership of your new one. You don’t need to tell us the time of the changeover.

You don’t need a cover note from your insurer when changing your vehicle.

If you’ve bought a brand-new vehicle, and this isn’t recognized automatically by our system, just scroll down the page and you’ll be able to enter the vehicle details manually.

If you’re not able to enter the new details manually, please allow up to five working days for our system to update with the new information from the DVLA. You should then be able to change your vehicle over.

Unfortunately, we can’t cover the following:

  • Vehicles worth £99,999 or more
  • Vehicles with significant modifications – we’ll cover optional extras fitted by the manufacturer as new and declared in the vehicle value (for Comprehensive policies only) and modifications made solely in respect of a disability
  • Vehicles 20 years or older
  • Please note we cannot change a car policy to a van policy, or a van policy to a car policy.
