Am I covered to drive other vehicles?

You’re covered to drive any other vehicle third party only as long as you:

  • are the policyholder and main driver on the policy with us
  • are driving in Great Britain, Northern Ireland, The Channel Islands or the Isle of Man
  • don't own the vehicle and don't have it on hire purchase
  • have the owner's express consent to drive it
  • still have your vehicle and it isn't damaged beyond cost effective repair
  • were 25 or over when you bought or renewed your policy.

You can find out more information by checking your Insurance Certificate. You can find this by logging in to MyAviva, selecting your Aviva Motor policy, and choosing Documents.

Additionally, for Aviva Premium motor customers - we’ll also cover you to drive other vehicles comprehensively which you can activate when required for up to 5 days at a time, as long as the vehicle:

  • Isn’t owned by, registered to, hired to or leased to you or a family member living at your address.
  • Isn’t worth more than £50,000
  • Isn’t available to you for regular use.

You can activate this cover on your premium tier policy by clicking on the details tab in MyAviva and following the ‘Activate’ link on My Homepage.

The same conditions that apply to Third party cover also apply to the provision of comprehensive cover for Aviva Premium motor customers. Please refer to your policy booklet for full conditions of cover.
