Am I covered for damage caused by DIY?

Aviva Premium includes buildings accidental damage cover as standard, which would cover you for accidental damage caused by your DIY.

Aviva Online does not include any buildings accidental damage cover as standard, but you can add buildings accidental damage cover to your policy.

Depending on when you  purchased your Aviva Online policy, you will have the option to add the below, for additional cost:

-   Buildings accidental damage cover, OR

-   you will have a choice between:

           -   Limited buildings accidental damage cover, OR

           -   Extra buildings accidental damage cover

If you have selected Buildings accidental damage cover or Extra buildings accidental damage cover, we’ll cover you for accidental damage caused by DIY.

If you have an Aviva Online policy and you have selected the optional Limited buildings accidental damage cover, then we’ll only cover you for accidental damage caused by DIY, occurring to:

-   Underground pipes and cables

-   Fixed glass

-   Sanitary fixtures & fittings (eg baths, basins, shower trays, shower screens etc).

If you already have an Aviva Online policy, your schedule will show the accidental damage options that are available.

We don’t cover damage to fixed glass forming part of the buildings which happens when your home has been left unoccupied for longer than the period shown on your schedule.  We don’t cover damage caused by wear and tear, faulty items, design or workmanship.
